Exhibit: Florida Masters Collection
SFCC MOFAC is home to the Florida Masters Collection, one of the finest collections of contemporary Florida regional art. Selections from this collection are always on view in the museum. The collection includes Christopher Still, Clyde Butcher, John Costin, and Robert Butler.
The archaeology displays include many types of points, stone and shell tools, pottery fragments, and other objects. Thanks to the Kissimmee Valley Archaeological and Historical Conservancy (KVAHC), a group of enthusiastic avocational archaeologists mentored by Dr. Robert Austin, the archaeological displays include recent discoveries from the Blueberry site in Highlands County.
Recent discoveries by KVAHC at sites like the Royce Mound and Blueberry suggest that that is not the case. The Blueberry site in particular, south and east of Lake Placid, has furnished evidence of continuing habitation for hundreds of years. In addition, artifacts found at the site provide strong evidence for a vigorous and ongoing trade relationship with tribes as far away as the Mississippi and Ohio rivers.

Coming Home: SFCC Alumni Exhibit
SFCC MOFAC celebrates the continuing artistic achievements of SFCC alumni Caroline Colby, Max Gooding, Whitney Broadaway, Dana Sacco, Chase Smith, and Laura Wolfe in an exhibition featuring their paintings, woodcut prints, photography, multimedia, and graphics. The exhibition proudly demonstrates how these former SFCC art students are maturing in vision, ability, and talent.
For years the Kissimmee Valley was thought to be a seasonal resource for hunting and gathering by coastal tribes like the Calusa or Ais and not a year ’round home for an indigenous culture.
Outdoor environmental art exhibit honors endangered and endemic plants of the Lake Wales Ridge found on the SFCC Highlands Campus. Walk the self-guided nature trail and explore the scrub habitat.
Catfish, Moonshine, Cattle on the Peavine is an exhibit depicting the pioneer families of the Big Lake Region. It is about resourceful, determined people who, confronted with a rapidly changing environment, made a conscious decision to remain free of the encumbrances of modern society. They earn their daily bread by using skills that are theirs by birthright.

The exhibit focuses on a handful of people in and around Lake Okeechobee. They represent many more who have made similar decisions about their futures.
