The City of Wauchula hosted their first Walk -N- Talk event of the new year this past Tuesday as part of one of the requirement required by the State of Florida.

The tour is open to the public and will be free of charge. Sturdy walking shoes, sunscreen and water are recommended. The tour will start at 9 a.m. and typically lasts 2 hours. There are more tours lined up for next several months so schedule your time to come and visit nature at it's purist. Please see upcoming events page for future dates.

Peace River Park is a 155-acre parcel of land located on the south side of Main Street and on the west side of the Peace River within the Wauchula City limits. The majority of the Peace River Park tract has never been significantly altered or developed for agriculture or other land uses. The project is managed to preserve the mixed bottom land hardwood forest, improve public access to Peace River, and to provide optimal wildlife habitat, outdoor recreation and environmental education opportunities.

Topics of discussion will include plant identification, natives vs. exotics, Peace River, wetlands and flooding.
