Saturdays Truck & Tractor Pulls in Wauchula at the Cattlemen’s Arena nothing short of exciting show it started with some supped up tractors not like you see going out of town these tractors had some big engines and exhaust pipes and some had nitrous tanks hooked on to them. Then it was the old timers turn to pull the sled some had old Ferguson, Farmall and John Deere diesel some as old as 1957 so this was definitely the one your grandfather drove way back when. Next up was the super modified gas trucks and followed by the stock diesel modified had their chance to pull the sled and so the weight goes up for these trucks. After that was done we had a special guest appearance from the lawn mowers association run a couple a races now these are just like your mower at home but with a little work done to the engine and then was the super modified they could run up to speed of 50 mph on blades of course but it was exciting to see.
These is the same group out of Avon Park they have a track out their where they run on the weekends maybe one day they will have their series running here in Hardee. After the lawnmower races, came the super modified diesel trucks some with 1600 hp engines in them. Proceeds benefited the American Cancer Society of Hardee as you know October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and this event also benefited the Hardee County’s FFA Future Farmers of America. Event organizer Richard Klimas of Brooksville Pulling Association said he is looking forward to next year’s event which will have more exciting trucks and tractors and there will be two event scheduled for next year, July and October so he is looking for sponsors to help out with the event and in promotion of the event. This year we had about 1500 show up in July and this October event we had around 850 a little low but hopefully next we will see bigger crowds. This was an awesome show for the whole family next year will be even better.
