2012 Hardee County District Science and Engineering Fair

Hardee Junior High School

Held at the Hardee Junior High School's Gym students had their exhibits displayed on tables by category while judges from all over Hardee and surrounding counties came and took part in the judging of the students projects. The morning started with meet and greet and judging tags were issued. After getting tags they were given a continental breakfast. Then after breakfast Mrs. Susan Barton instructed the judges on what they were to look for when judging a students project after that the judges were paired together some were to judge the Junior High and other the Senior High students project. Next they brought in the students and they sat by their exhibits. Judges

then approached each exhibit and spoke with students and asked questions about their project such as how they got the materials for their particular project, What steps did they take in their research, etc. Around noon everyone braked for lunch, after lunch the judges had to narrowed the projects down to the top 30 and then again down to the top 15 for both Junior High and Senior High. Each judge gave and explanation why they chose the particular project to go on to State. The top 15 students where brought back to the gym to explain their project the whole group of judges. It was so hard as I heard some of the judges say because their were so many projects worthy of going to the State Science Fair. Some of the judges represented were from Moaic, CF Industries, Penn - Pro, USF Florida Industrial and Phosphate Research Institute POLYTECHNIC, PRECO, Former Educators, select local business owners, Florida State Parks, just to name a few. PhosChem Supply Company representative Jama Abbott they help the school with all of the cardboard displays, the lettering and many more too many to mention for this year's science fair.
