Saturday October 20, 2012 The Texas Holdem' Poker Tournament was well on it's way starting at 3 pm at the Bowl of Fun Lanes in Wauchula. This is a monthly Poker Tournament to benefit the American Cancer Society of Hardee County players come for a good time of card playing as the money generated going to a great cause. There's two tournaments this weekend the first one started at 3 pm then at 6:30 pm the evening event stared more players came out to this one because of the time and the potential of money that they can win. The poker tables and chips are brought in by Bobby Brewer and Gonzo who set up and break down the tables each month. The bar at the bowling ally makes for a great place to have such an event it's quite and there is some great food and drinks with friendly waitress to take their orders. The monthly Poker Tournament was started by the late Ken Weis and Bobby Brewer to raise money for the American Cancer Society of Hardee County. And that tradition goes on today.
A poker tournament is a tournament where players compete by playing poker. It can feature as few as two players playing on a single table (called a "heads-up" tournament), and as many as tens of thousands of players playing on thousands of tables. The winner of the tournament is usually the person who wins every poker chip in the game and the others are awarded places based on the time of their elimination. To facilitate this, in most tournaments, blinds rise over the duration of the tournament. Unlike in a ring game (or cash game), a player's chips in a tournament cannot be cashed out for money and serve only to determine the player's placing.
