It was a nice day for a parade it was sunny but cool organizers the Magnolia Manor MLK Committee gave this years parade theme name "Unity". It started at the old junior high at 1pm and ran downtown Wauchula on Main Street and then right to S. 7th Ave. and then another right on Orange St. Their was vehicles, wagons, horses, fire truck and even a clown in the parade. This parade is a celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. life and his activism. It was once said by Dr. Martin Luther King
Jr. that " We must learn to live together as brothers or perish together as fools." At the White House Rose Garden on November 2, 1983, President Ronald Reagan signed a bill, proposed by Representative Katie Hall of Indiana, creating a federal holiday to honor King. It was observed for the first time on January 20, 1986. After the parade those who wanted to attend went to Magnolia Manor Park where the MLK Committee hosted an Old - Fashion 25 cent Fun Day. Everyone there was having lots of fun their was food, music, ices, games for the kids, football, volleyball, soccer and much more. It was a time for the community to come together and celebrate what Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. stood for.
