1st Annual Golf Tournament
to benefit
American Cancer Society Relay For Life
The first annual Golf Tournament to benefit the American Cancer Society Relay For Life was held at the Bluff’s Golf Course in Hardee County Saturday January 28th. The golf tournament is the first tournament of the year for Hardee County as well. The golf tournament was sponsored by Vandolah Power Company and Gold sponsor: Mosaic and Alan Jay Automotive Network. Golfers drove their way through the thick fog on US 17 South to play a round of golf for a good cause. Golfers were greeted at sign in area
where they purchase tickets for 50/50, Door prizes and mulligan’s there they had breakfast and off to the warm up area to practice a bit. At hole #3 if you got a hole in one you win a new 2012 Chevrolet, and hole #7 if you made it you win other prizes.
After golfers finished they ate lunch BBQ chicken, pulled pork, baked beans, potato salad, garlic bread and sweet tea and other drinks.
During lunch Mr. Doug Jensen of Vandolah Power spoke on how cancer has affected his life and how he credits the American Cancer Society for their research which developed a test that showed what lot of other tests wont detect. He also encouraged all of the men to who are in their 50’s and up to get a prostate exam.
Then ticket numbers were called out gifts, 50/50 and prizes and the winners of the golf tournament came up from 3rd, 2nd and 1st place to claim their prizes a lot chose to donate back their winnings to the American Cancer Society. Thanks to all of the local businesses who bought hole signs, donated gifts and door prizes.
