The First Annual Black History Festival on Main Street in Downtown Wauchula.
The first annual "Black History Festival On Main Street" was held on Saturday February 11th 2012 many people from Hardee County turned out to help make history by participating in the very first Black History Festival in downtown Wauchula. Event organizer Marilyn Browdy Morris and members where shanique Outley, Diane Smith,
Gail Knight, Jeannette Daniels. Their were many vendors and organizations on hand for this first ever event the American Red Cross, NAACP, members of the Democratic Party, Morgan Enterprises and "Be The Wall". The Color Guard from Hardee Senior High School's Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps. presented the color during opening ceremonies. Their was face painting, raffles, food and education. Speaker Karen I. Meeks from Meeks, Denmark & Moore Law Offices in Bartow spoke about African-American history to crowd. This event was definitely one that the whole family was able to participate, and gain knowledge about Black History during Black History month.
