Christian Rodeo

September 8th, 2012 6pm to 8pm

Hardee County Cattlemen’s Arena
In Wauchula

The Christian Rodeo included events such as Bull Riding, Ranch Bronco Riding, Team Roping, Barrel racing, The Down Roping, and Breakaway competition.
Fans from all over Hardee and some as far as Tampa came out to see some exciting family fun entertainment.
Folks got a chance to see just how farmers still rely on cowboys to control cattle and other animals in a farmers operation. They showed how important horses are to the cowboys a ability to control such animals.

It’s was exciting watching bull rides at the show.
Unlike their equestrian counterparts, bulls don’t often get the mainstream respect and admiration when it comes to sports that involve climbing on the back of a hoofed creature.
But that shouldn’t mean that the animal, side of the equation in Professional Bull Rider events are no less deserving of awe.

It’s likely even more impressive when a rider with little concern for their own well-being jumps on top of a bucking, one-ton beast of fury with horns and All in the name of competition.
Anytime you match a 150-pound guy with a 2,000-pound animal, it is going to be exciting.

According to rules, the bigger and meaner the bull, the higher the riders’ scores will be. Half of the possible 100 points for each eight-second ride are determined by the bull’s performance.
That score is based on the animal’s speed and power, as well as the number of leg kicks and body rolls it performs once exiting the starting gates, called a chute. So it’s in the rider’s best interest — at least for competitive purposes — to be on top of the meanest, most active bull possible.
The other events showed how the use of team work and hard work is used in field.

The arena was as vibrant as ever Saturday. The stands at the Cattlemen’s Arena are invariably filled with knowledgeable rodeo fans watching the very best in rodeo competition. The Christian Rodeo had a good lineup of events starting with a Pre-show entertainment “Muttin Bustin’”
