There was a traffic jam in Wauchula Friday afternoon, but there was no accident to be seen, it was The 2012 Hardee High Homecoming Parade and it was packed. Spectators, family and friends lined up and down Main Street to catch a glimpse of the parade as it made its way down the parade route. The parade route started from the Hardee practice field on Main Street, and then the route went east on Main Street to George Burris Ave then south on George Burris Ave to Orange Ave. and then it west on Orange Street. Lots of folks were
standing and waving as others had their lawn chairs with great view of the parade. I saw many people with the Hardee Wildcats colors of orange and blue on which made it a true homecoming. There were so many people you couldn’t see the sidewalk in some places that’s how many people attended this event. The parade started with a Wauchula police motorcycle doing doughnuts on Main Street followed by some police cars then the Honor Guard from the Hardee High Junior ROTC, Government officials, all of the schools were represented and some of the best looking floats I’ve seen in a long time coming down Main Street. They really did a very good job decorating those floats. The theme of the parade was the 2012 Olympics which were in London England not too long ago as the United State won the most medals and broke some world records, who could forget! Anyway back to the parade I saw beautiful young queens riding on some very nice cars as they their way down Main Street waving at the crowds and tossing candy. And how about the Hardee Highs Wildcat mascot he was pretty awesome. There was an airplane flying over head that was pulling an ad that read “Go Wildcats Vote for Colon Lambert”. Some of the businesses along Main Street had banners in support of the Hardee Wildcats that said Go Wildcats! The parade took a little over an hour and half to complete its journey down Main Street. I don’t know that many people were at the parade but I guess it to be over a thousand people. This is going down as one of the best Homecoming parade in a long time by the way if you want to see pictures of last year’s parade just go to the photo gallery 2011.
