Nick Battles is a 19 yr. old Marine from Wauchula, he is a Hardee Senior High School alumni, and was a 4 year Varisty football player for the Hardee Wildcats.
Nick Battles - Was in Marine Corp. basic training at Paris Island, SC – On November 9, 2011 during a training exercise he broke his T5 vertebrae – Nick under went surgery but the doctors feel it is unlikely he will walk again.
BBQ Benefit for Nick Battles on US. 17 South and Main Street in Wauchula, Florida on March 31st, 2012 .
Nick sustained a severe spinal cord injury. He is a Quadrapledric and is fighting everyday to regain his strength and to recover fully from his injury. Nick was flown to the Tampa VA and the plan is to send him to Project Walk in Orlando once he is medically stable, but Project Walk will not be covered by insurance.
To raise money for Project Walk, a BBQ Benefit for Nick was held March 31st in Wauchula on the corner of Main Street and Highway 17 South from 11am until 2pm.
Tickets was for pulled pork or chicken lunch for $10 at Wauchula Family Restaurant and Gloria’s Restaurant.
T-Shifts was also sold at the event to help raise additional funds.
People came by to pick up BBQ lunch on Saturday, March 31st on the corner of Main and 17 South in Wauchula for $10 and help one of our own YOUNG local military men recover from his severe injury. People from all over came to by friends and well wishers in support of Nick's recovery. April 9, 2012 was Nick's Birthday and we want to wish him a speedy recovery.
